Description

Three houses at 32, 34, and 36 Tait Street, built in the early 1850s. The houses are constructed with Flemish bond brickwork, featuring light-colored headers on a chamfered plinth, with painted stone dressings. They have a replacement slate roof and rebuilt 20th-century brick chimney stacks. Each house is two storeys and two bays deep, with a double-depth plan. Number 32 has a two-bay return facing James Terrace, and number 36 has a two-bay return facing Cecil Street. The right and left doorways have 20th-century replacement doors leading to tiled steps, within antis surrounds and beneath radial fanlights set within brick reveals. Sash windows are set in painted stone surrounds. Basement windows are lit by pavement grilles. The ground floor window of number 36, and its return, were replaced in 1988 following conversion to a corner shop. The interiors were not inspected.
