Description
This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of houses, numbered 276 to 302 on Queensbridge Road. The terrace comprises a consistent pattern of two storeys and an attic, with two windows to each house. The roofs are slated mansard roofs, incorporating dormers. The houses are constructed of stock brick, with a stucco frieze, cornice, and a blocking course. The ground floor features banded, rusticated stucco designed to resemble voussoirs around round-arched openings. The first-floor windows are mostly sash windows, some with full glazing bars and others with vertical bars only, set within moulded architraves with cornices and ornamental cast iron balconies. The ground-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The front doors are of two or three panels, with fluted quadrant pilasters, cornice heads (some with mutules), and fanlights, most of which are patterned. Number 288 has undergone significant alteration, including a pebbledashed front and modern casement windows, however it is included in the listing to preserve the integrity of the terrace. The outer houses have entrances on their side returns. Nos 276 to 302 form a group of buildings of group value.
