Description

This is a terrace of fourteen houses, now subdivided into maisonettes, located on Charrington Street, extending to include numbers 30 and 31 Medburn Street and numbers 18 and 19 Platt Street. Built around 1845, the terrace is constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed parapet and stuccoed ground floor, the latter featuring channelled rustication. The slate roofs are concealed.

The terrace presents a formal design, particularly noticeable around numbers 28/29 and 30/31, where pairs of numbers represent a single house. The houses to the right of and including numbers 28/29 have a front door to the right, while the remaining houses have a front door to the left; the end houses have doors on their return walls. The four houses at each end of the terrace project forward. The upper windows of these projecting houses are set within moulded architraves, with those on the first floor topped by pediments. The windows are predominantly 12-pane sashes. The upper windows in the central houses are set under gauged brick heads, while all ground floor windows have channelled keystones. Wrought-iron balconies are present on the first floor. Original, authentic doors are set within square pilaster doorcases, which have dentil moulded lintels and arched toplights. The return wall to Medburn Street has been rebuilt in a sympathetic style. The interior was not inspected but is noted to retain original staircases and features.
