Description

No. 4 Market Place is an office and shop with a dwelling above, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. The building has three windows, two storeys, and attics. It is constructed of painted gault brick and features parapet gables and a moulded eaves cornice. The roof is plaintiled with crested ridge tiles, segmental-headed dormers, and gable chimneys made of gault brick. The first floor has 19th-century sash windows with flat arches of gauged brick and small-pane sashes. There are a pair of 20th-century shop windows and a 19th-century glazed panelled entrance door. Inside, stop-chamfered beams from around 1700 are exposed at both the ground and first floors. The building is included for its group value.
