Description
No. 28 High Town is a shop and dwelling, now functioning solely as a shop, dating from the early 18th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a hipped roof covered with old plain tiles, along with a brick stack at the end. It stands four storeys tall and has a three-window range. The ground floor has 20th-century casements set in moulded cases, which are positioned under gauged brick arches that include fluted stucco keyblocks. A moulded brick band runs along the building, with 20th-century six-over-six sash windows on the second and third floors, also set under similar heads. The building is topped with a leaded parapet and has a 20th-century shop front. On the right side, there is a 19th-century six-over-six sash window in an altered opening, and a wing at the rear features early 18th-century paired six-over-six sashes under a segmental arch.
