Description
29 High Town is a shop and dwelling built in the early 19th century. It features painted brick construction and a half-hipped slate roof, along with a 19th-century brick end stack. The building stands four storeys high and has a two-window range. The 19th-century, two-light casements are set under gauged brick flat arches and are located in recessed bays between pilasters. There is a rendered storey band, and the building has 8/8 sash windows with similar flat arches and settings. Above the recessed bays, there is a band and corbelling, and two 4/4 sash windows are also present under flat arches. The building has a coped parapet. To the left, there is a passage leading to Capuchin Lane, which has a simple plastered barrel vault. The right side features a 20th-century shop front. At the rear, there is a tier of 6/6 and 3/3 sash windows above the passage, along with brick modillion eaves and a reduced 19th-century brick stack. This building is included for its group value.
