Description

No. 5 Church Street is a shop and dwelling that dates from the late 18th century, although it has earlier origins. The building is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high with a cellar and features a two-window range. The windows have plain sashes set under segmental arches, with 6/6 sashes above. The building is topped with a brick coped parapet and has an exposed wall plate on the right side. The late 19th-century shop front includes a central half-glazed panelled door with an overlight, flanked by curved plate-glass windows that have moulded glazing shafts. The shop front also features a tiled stallboard and a moulded fascia board with fluted consoles and pilasters.
