Description
No. 35 Church Street is a shop and dwelling built in the mid-18th century. It features painted brickwork and a slate roof, with a brick stack on the left front. The building has a T-shaped plan and stands two storeys high, with an attic and cellar. The façade includes a three-window range with 8/8 sash windows, flanked by blocked openings beneath segmental arches. The soffit is boarded, and there is a 19th-century box dormer with a three-light casement.
The 19th-century shop front has a central two-leaf, part-glazed door with a margin-glazed overlight, flanked by plate glass windows with clerestory lights. To the right, there is a six-panel door with an overlight featuring glazing bars, set in panelled reveals. The shop front is topped with a moulded fascia board and hood, with a storey band above.
At the rear, there is a gable wing that has a late 19th-century 3/3 sash window under an oak lintel, located in an altered opening, above a plain sash in a broad case. There is also a further wing with a weatherboarded gable and 18th-century timber framing with brick infill on the north side, topped with 20th-century pantiles.
