Description

No. 33 Market Place consists of two attached houses that have been converted into shops. They date from the 18th century and were altered and renovated in the 1980s. The north frontage features the left-hand building, which is 18th century, constructed of brick with a colourwashed finish and a rendered plinth, topped with a red plain tile roof. It has brick gable parapets and an internal stack on the left gable. This building is one and a half storeys tall and has two 20th-century shop bay windows with four vertical panes each, along with two blocked openings beneath cambered heads and two small-paned dormer casements. The brick eaves feature dentils. At the rear, there are three casement windows beneath cambered arches, a 20th-century doorcase and door, and two dormer casements on the north frontage, again with brick eaves dentils.

The right-hand building is a later 18th-century addition, likely also brick and rendered, with a rendered plinth and a black glazed pantile roof. This building is taller, with two storeys. The ground floor has two shop bay windows similar to those on the left-hand building, while the first floor features two sash windows with glazing bars. To the right, there are two lower ranges, both with red tiled roofs; one has a pair of similar shop bay windows and two first-floor casements. This building is included for its group value with the left-hand building.
