Description
The Tuck Shop and Southern Radio is a house that has been converted into a pair of shops, dating from the late 18th century and the 19th century. It is constructed of brick, rendered with incised masonry lines, and features a plain tile roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and originally has three bays, with an additional bay added in the 19th century.
The front of the building includes the added bay on the left-hand side and two shopfronts. The right-hand shopfront, dating from the 19th century, has a half-glazed door to the left of a plate glass shop window, which is flanked by pilasters and brackets, with a fascia above the window and a pelmet box over both. The left-hand shopfront, from the 20th century, features two plate glass windows and a door at the left-hand end, along with a long fascia and pelmet box.
On the first floor, the older bays have 4-pane sash windows, while the added bay has a wide 6-pane sash window. The building has moulded eaves, and there are 2-light dormers in the end bays and in the center. Ridge stacks are located at each end of the original building.
