Description
The Town Hall in Fordingbridge, built in 1877, is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed of brick with stone dressings and a tiled roof. It features three bays at the front and a lower range at the rear. The central entrance has a pointed shouldered arch with double six-panel doors. On either side, there are double sash windows set in pointed openings, which are above a moulded band on the first floor. The first floor also has a central balcony with cast-iron railings featuring pointed openwork, situated above moulded brick machicolations. Behind the balcony are half-glazed double doors topped with a date stone in the lintel. Flanking the central bay, there are double sash windows with a sill band that runs across. Above the central window, there is a pointed recess and a string course. The gable above features a round window and geometric brick patterns made of glazed brick. At the top of the main ridge, there is a short clock tower with a tile-hung lower section, a clock on each face, and a bell-cast roof. The building also has kneelered gable walls and stacks at each end.
