Description

The Crown is an inn dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a rendered brick exterior and an old plain tile roof. The building is two stories tall with an attic and has three wide bays. The front includes a raised render plinth, interrupted by a top-glazed door located under an open porch supported by thin cast iron columns. This porch has a wide architrave that forms pilasters to the left of the center bay. To the right of the center bay, there is a blocked window. Each bay on both floors contains paired sash windows from the 19th century. The building is topped with a heavy modillioned timber eaves cornice and has four two-light hip-roofed dormers, with none situated above the left-hand bay. There is a large ridge stack on the right side of the center bay and another stack at the left end.
