House, now divided into 2 shops and offices. Early C19. In white brick with a plain parapet and slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar. 5 window range: all sashes, 12-pane to the 1st storey, 9-pane to the 2nd storey with one blocked, in plain reveals with flat gauged arches. The ground storey has 2 C20 restored shop fronts: No.8 divided into 4 lights by vertical glazing bars, No.9 21-pane. Two 6-panel doors have pilastered wood doorcases and cornices. INTERIOR: No.8 was extensively modernised during the 1980s and has a number of reused timbers introduced into the ground floor area. On the 1st floor, 2 main posts which appear original remain, one with the housing for a brace, the other for a window sill. The 2nd storey is an early C19 addition. No.9 has a partly brick vaulted C16 cellar with 2 niches in each side wall. Very large main beams only are exposed on the ground storey. On the 1st storey the timbers are exposed along the north wall, the ceiling has been raised and one tie-beam moved. An original division into 2 rooms on each storey, but partition wall removed on ground storey and studding exposed without infill above. The rear has an altered clasped side purlin roof.
