Description

52 Westley Road is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is rendered with pebbledash and has a plaintiled roof topped with a red brick chimney stack. The building has a two-cell lobby-entrance plan.

On the exterior, it stands two storeys high with attics. The right side of the house includes a sash window with a single vertical bar in a flush cased frame on the upper storey and a larger similar window on the ground storey. The entrance door has been removed. The left side features a two-light single bar casement window on the upper storey and a 16-pane sash window in a flush cased frame on the ground storey, along with an architraved boarded entrance door. There are dormers in the roof, and the gable end has a reinstated splash-board supported by shaped brackets.

Inside, the house has jowled posts, roll-moulded beams and joists, and notched feet on the rafters. The position of the joist stops suggests that the front of the building was originally jettied.
