Description
Royston House (Number 81) and Number 82 are a pair of houses built in 1834 by William Steggles. The front is made of white brick, while the rear features flint and red brick, topped with a slate roof that was originally adorned with a modillion eaves soffit, now covered.
The houses are three storeys tall and have cellars. They feature a three-window range, with all windows being sashes set in plain reveals. Number 81 has a single vertical glazing bar in its window lights, while Number 82 has no glazing bars and the reveals are painted. The front of the building slightly projects between the windows. Number 81 boasts a recessed six-panel door framed by a doorcase with columns and a segmental fanlight with ornamental glazing. In contrast, Number 82 has a six-panel door set in a semicircular arched brick surround, with painted reveals and a fanlight.
The interior has not been inspected.
