Description

The Francis Eagle Monument is a churchyard monument located in King's Road Cemetery, Bury St Edmunds, and was erected in 1857. It is made of stone and features an obelisk on a panelled base. The monument commemorates Francis King Eagle, who passed away in 1856. He was a lawyer and County Court Judge, notable for being the first Mayor of Bury St Edmunds following the Municipal Corporations Act of 1835. The monument was funded by public subscription.
