Description

Beech Hill House, along with its attached flanking walls and steps, dates from around 1850 and has some alterations from the mid-20th century. The house is constructed of yellow brick with ashlar dressings and features hipped slate roofs with two truncated ridge stacks. It has a plinth, angle pilasters, and wooden eaves, and is designed in a square plan over two storeys with a three-window range. The windows are mainly plain sashes.

The slightly projecting central bay is accessed by four stone steps that are flanked by urns, leading to an Ionic portico and entablature that covers a panelled door and overlight. Above this, there is a mid-20th century glazed door set within a 19th-century eared architrave, and a mid-20th century balcony railing. Each side of the house features a two-storey canted bay window with three lights. The left return has two additional canted bay windows, also two storeys high with three lights each.

The curved flanking walls are approximately 5 meters long and topped with slab coping. Each wall has a central gateway with panelled square piers and larger end piers.

Inside, there is a wooden stair with double turned balusters and a scrolled handrail. The ground floor front room on the right includes two elliptical arched cupboards set in recesses, each with glazed doors.
