Description

Nos. 5 and 6 Thetford Road is a house, now functioning as a pair of cottages, dating from around 1600. The building has two storeys and features a timber-framed structure that is rendered, topped with a thatched roof. It follows a basic three-cell lobby-entrance plan, with a slight extension to the south. Inside, there is an internal chimney stack with two red brick hexagonal shafts. Each storey has small-paned casement windows, with three-light windows on one level and two-light windows on the other. Inside No. 6, the wall-plate and tie-beam are visible, along with heavy main beams that have scroll stops. At the rear, there is a lean-to addition from the mid-19th century, constructed of red brick and flint.
