Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Barnham Road is a house that has been converted into two cottages. It dates from the mid-18th century and was altered in the early 19th century. The building has two storeys and features a timber-framed core that is encased in large flints, which are partly knapped, with red brick quoins and dressings. The roof is steeply pitched and hipped, covered with double Roman tiles. There is an internal chimney stack with a high, plain red brick shaft. Each storey has two 3-light casement windows with horizontal bars, and there are two plank doors in plain surrounds. Behind No. 1, there is a lean-to extension, while behind No. 2, there is a small two-storeyed addition with a separate hipped roof. This addition has its north wall continuous with the front range and appears to have been added when the front was encased in flint.
