Description

This barn, located 10 meters south-west of Shrubbery Farmhouse, dates back to around 1600. It features three bays and is constructed from timber framing with weatherboarding. The roof is thatched, although it has collapsed and been partially removed at the time of the survey. The barn has well-crafted timber-framed walls that include a middle rail and tension-bracing at the gables. Moulded brackets support the projecting ends of the wall-plate at the gables, suggesting that the barn was likely built alongside the parlour block of Shrubbery Farmhouse, which shares the same design elements. There are 19th and 20th-century pantiled extensions on the north and west sides.
