Description

The barn at Shrub Farm, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, is constructed from rubble stone and features a roof that is partly stone tiled and partly pantiled. This very large barn has 12 bays and includes projecting cart entrances with hipped roofs on opposite sides. The inner cart entrances are spanned by shallow cambered arches. On the west side, there are two Tudor arched openings above four ventilation loops. The interior is divided by an original full-height central wall, and the roof consists of a double purlin tie-beam and collar truss design. A squash court has been inserted at the north end of the barn. The lower range at the north end has a stone tiled roof and external steps leading to the loft. All openings on the east side have been blocked.
