Description
Bybrook Lodge is a lodge to the Manor House, built around 1840-1850. It is constructed from rubble stone and features a stone tiled roof with paired shaped stacks on the main ridge. The building is one storey with an attic and is designed in a picturesque cottage style, characterized by carved bargeboards at the eaves and diamond-leaded mullion windows with hoodmoulds.
The north gable faces the entrance drive and includes an apex shield on a quatrefoil, a two-light upper window, and an ornate timber porch built on a stone base, which has seats on either side and carved figures in a Medieval style on the front. The stone tiled roof is adorned with bargeboards and a finial, and the porch has timber slatted sides. There is a Tudor-arched doorway with a hoodmould that appears to be a reused feature from the 17th century.
The east gable, which faces the road, has a similar plaque and upper window, along with a small stone canted bay on the ground floor that includes mullion and transom windows. A two-light window is located on the north side, while the south gable has a parallel rear range attached, featuring a two-light upper window and three-light lower windows on each gable. The east side also has a two-light mullion and transom window.
