II

Former farmhouse, early or mid C17. 3-cell cross-passage entrance plan. 2 storeys. Timber-framed and plastered. Thatched roof, with axial C17/C18 chimney of red brick, and a gable chimney of C18/C19 to right. Mid C20 small- pane sashes. C20 framed and boarded entrance door at cross-passage position; open gabled porch on timber posts. Complete C17 timber-framing exposed internally. Clamped 1st floor structure with chamfered joists laid flat (those in service cell are square). The large chimney has lintelled back-to- back fireplaces in hall and parlour. Evidence for unglazed diamond-mullioned windows throughout. A small extension of c.1800 to right, and another of mid C20 to centre rear.
