Description
Howes Farm Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century. It has one storey with attics and a three-cell plan. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a Roman pantiled roof that was originally thatched. There is a 19th-century raking dormer with a casement window. The axial chimney, built of red brick, dates from the 16th or 17th century, with the upper shaft being rebuilt in the 19th century. The cottage has 20th-century casements and a half-glazed panelled entrance door, which is sheltered by an open pantiled porch. Inside, the first floor of the hall showcases good exposed timberwork, including chamfered joists typical of the mid-16th century.
