Description
Hill House is a former farmhouse built around 1770. It is constructed of red brick, which is colourwashed on the front elevation. The building features a dentil course beneath the eaves and a band running along most of the first floor. The roof is plaintiled with internal end chimneys made of red brick. The house has two storeys and four windows, which have flat arches made of gauged brick and small-pane sash windows with flush frames, likely renewed in the 19th century. The entrance doorway is notable, featuring a six-panelled door with panelled linings, a moulded pediment, and a cornice with dentils. In the tympanium above the door, there is a carved device in low relief. The interior has not been examined, but it is believed to include a staircase with balustrading in the Chinese Chippendale style.
