Description

Tyne Cottage (No.148) and Old Cottage (No.150) are a pair of houses located on High Street in Aldeburgh. They date from the early 19th century, with mid-19th century extensions added at the rear. The buildings are constructed of painted brick, with some weatherboarding at the rear, and feature a pantiled roof with a ridge stack positioned between the two properties.

The exterior is two storeys high. No.148 has a one-window range, while No.150 has a three-window range. The entrance to No.148 features a door with six fielded panels in a simple timber surround, located to the left of a 6/6 unhorned sash window with a hood above it. On the first floor, there is one flush-framed 6/6 unhorned sash window. No.150 has a six-panelled door with two glazed panels at the top, situated to the right of two 6/6 unhorned sash windows, also under hoods. The first floor includes three flush-framed 6/6 unhorned sash windows. Both properties have a dentil eaves cornice. At the rear, there are two kitchen extensions that have been added in front of the weatherboarded main wall.

Inside, the properties feature staircases with stick balusters, two-panel doors, and chamfered bridging beams.
