Description
Lewis House is a house that has been converted into a house and shop. It dates from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The building was subdivided in 1963 and features a 20th-century shop front. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and has a plain tile hipped roof.
The exterior has a two-storey front with three windows. To the left of the center is a plate-glass shop window and door. In the center, there is a six-panelled door with glazed top panels set in a plain doorcase. To the right, there is a tripartite window with one-over-one sash windows. On the first floor, there are three unhorned sash windows with two-over-two panes. All openings, except for the shop front, have plain hoods supported by foliate consoles, and there is a platband at the first floor level.
Inside, the space has been opened up into a showroom, and the ground-floor fireplace has been rebuilt. The staircase has been relocated, and there are some late 18th-century two-panel doors on the first floor.
