Description
This building is a pair of houses, now divided into four dwellings, dating from the mid-18th century. It was altered in the early 19th century and subdivided in the late 20th century. The structure is made of colourwashed brick and features pantile roofs that are hipped at the front, with a ridge stack on No.219 and a side stack on No.217. The layout is U-shaped.
The exterior consists of two-storey wings with one window each, which have lower two-storey extensions that feature crenellated parapets, flanking a central yard that is screened by garden gates. The fronts of the houses mirror each other in reverse, with entrances located in the extensions. No.217 has a panelled door, while No.219 has a 20th-century door. The doorcases are adorned with panelled pilasters and cornices. On the first floor, each extension has one unhorned sash window with three panes over six. The earlier fronts have unhorned sash windows with eight panes over eight on each floor, with the ground floor windows set under segmental arches. The returns of the extensions vary in size and detail, with No.217 featuring a propped first floor that resembles a jetty. The interior has not been inspected.
