Description

Rosemary Cottage (No.225) and Lavender Cottage (No.227) are two dwellings that were originally one house, built in the early 17th century. The property was subdivided in the early 19th century and underwent further alterations and extensions at the rear in the 20th century. The building is timber-framed, plastered, and colourwashed, topped with pantile roofs.

The exterior features a main range of two storeys with irregular window placements. At the left end, there is a two-storey gabled cross wing with a jettied first floor and attic. No.225 has a six-panel door with two glazed panels to the left of an 18th-century three-light casement window. On the first floor, there is a four-pane fixed light and an 18th-century two-light casement window above the door, with a shared three-light 18th-century casement window to the left, which is shared with No.227.

No.227 has a six-panel door at the left end of the main range and a three-light casement window to the right. The cross wing features 19th-century casement windows, with four lights on the ground floor and three lights on the first floor. The jetty bessummers have sunk quadrant mouldings, and all casement windows are metal framed. At the rear, the main range has three 20th-century dormers fitted with casements, while the cross wing attic has a 20th-century top-hung casement. The interior has not been inspected.
