Description
The cottage to the west of Thorington Hall is a former service range, likely built in the 17th century, with later alterations. It features a timber-framed structure that is rendered and partially cased in brick, topped with a plain tile roof. The building is single storey with an attic.
On the entrance front, which was formerly the rear, there is a six-paned door to the left and a half-glazed door to the right, both sheltered by a pent tiled porch. To the left, there is a 12-pane sash window, and to the right, a casement window next to an external stack, which has been partially rebuilt. There is also a further 20th-century window to the right. The cottage has a gabled dormer with bargeboards and a casement window, and the roof is swept with bargeboards at the gables. An additional external stack is located to the left. The interior has not been fully inspected, but visible features include studded walls and chamfered beams and joists.
