Description
Nos 4 and 5 Holly Lane are a pair of cottages that were formerly one house, dating from the late 17th century, with an earlier core. The cottages are timber framed and rendered, with the ground floor constructed of brick. They have a plaintile roof and rise to 2 and 2½ storeys. The building features three bays and may originally have had a two-cell lobby entry plan, although the stack appears to have been inserted later. There are boarded doors on the left and right sides, with small paned timber casements on the inner side of each door. A similar casement is located centrally on the first floor. Each side of the building has a full dormer casement. A central axial brick stack with a rebuilt shaft is present, and on the right-hand return, there are timber casements on each floor. The left-hand return features 20th-century metal casements on each floor. The beams and main posts have lambs tongue stops, and there are stairs located at the front of the stack.
