Description

The Belstead War Memorial is located at a road junction near 31 and 32 Chapel Lane, which are also listed as Grade II. The memorial features a plain wheel-head cross with a tapering shaft, set on a tapering plinth and a single-stepped base. It is made from grey Cornish granite and stands approximately 2.7 meters tall.

On the front face of the plinth, there is a main inscription in raised leaded lettering that reads: "IN HONOURED MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914–1918/ (15 NAMES)/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE."

Additionally, on the east face of the plinth, there is another inscription in leaded lettering within a smooth recessed area that states: "ALSO OF THOSE/ WHO FELL IN THE/ SECOND GREAT WAR/ 1939–1945/ (3 NAMES)."
