Description
Little Thatch is a detached cottage, likely built in the late 17th century. It features roughcast cob on stone footings and has a hipped thatched roof. The layout consists of a two-room central cross-passage plan with a rear wing attached to the right-hand room. There is an axial stack with a brick shaft located at the junction of the rear wing and the main range. The cottage has two storeys.
The front exterior is symmetrical with a two-window arrangement, including a blocked window above the porch. On the first floor, there are 19th-century three-light casement windows, each with six leaded panes. The ground floor has a left-hand window that was in the process of being replaced during the re-survey visit in October 1985, and a three-light casement window to the right. The central porch is made of timber, part-glazed, and thatched.
On the right-hand side elevation, there is one three-light 19th-century casement window on the first floor with 18 leaded panes per light. The ground floor features a panelled door with a rectangular overlight and a former shop window containing 35 panes, along with two blocked windows. There are also two ground-floor windows at the left-hand end of the main range. At the rear, there is an outshut under a catslide roof. Although the interior was not inspected, Little Thatch adds to the character of the village scene.
