Description

TM 1540 WHERSTEAD THE STREET (South side) 5/2 6 School House Nos 1 and 2 GV II House, now two dwellings. Probably C17 with C19 remodelling and later alterations. Timber-framed, rendered. Plain tiles, brick stacks. Shallow H-plan. 2 storeys. Main range has 2 casement windows to each floor, cross wings have one case- ment to each floor under hoodmoulds. Wave pattern bargeboards to gables. 3 corniced ridge stacks. Entrances now to rear. Interior of School House: Framing concealed. One chamfered beam with pyramid stop. Included for group value.
