Description

TM 1540 WHERSTEAD WHERSTEAD PARK 5/35 Stable block of Wherstead Park 22.2.55 GV II Stable block and coach house, now offices, accommodation and village hall. Late C18, restored and converted 1976-7. Gault brick with ashlar dressings. Slate roof. Central 2-storey, 3-bay coach house with pedimented outer bays flanked by single-storey originally 2-bay wings with extensions to both sides. Central double doors under glazed round arch. Side bays break forward, sashes with glazing bars under flat gauged brick arches. 1st floor band. 6-pane sashes to 1st floor. Stepped pediments. Cupola with clock faces surmounted by weathervane to centre. Wings: 12-pane sashes under flat gauged brick arches. The central ones being an insertion. Lunette to extension to right.
