Description

The stableblock at Park Hall, now converted into several houses, dates from the early 19th century and was transformed into residential units in the 1970s. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings and quoins, topped with a slate roof featuring leaded ridges and stone back wall stacks.

Architectural details include a dentilled and moulded cornice, central and gable end pediments, and a central stone cupola with rusticated semi-circular headed openings, vented louvres, and a pyramidal top adorned with a ball finial and weather-vane. The building is two storeys high and has a crescent plan.

On the west elevation, the central section is made of ashlar with rusticated quoins, featuring two depressed arches with a central rusticated pier, now filled with stone and two 20th-century bow windows. The sections on either side are constructed of rubble with a shallow ashlar plinth. There is a semi-circular headed doorcase with a 20th-century glazed door and tracery above, inserted into former windows on the west side. Additional features include a semi-circular headed glazing bar sash and similar door, along with further sashes and doors. The east side mirrors the west side in design. The gable end bays have rusticated quoins and similar glazing bar sashes, with a continuous plain band at the impost level. Above every opening, there is a shallow glazing bar sash, and the gable end walls feature shallow plinths, semi-circular headed glazing bar sashes with a stringcourse at the impost level, and above them, rectangular shallow glazing bar sashes with pedimented gables.
