Description

This barn, located approximately 20 metres south of Thorington Hall, dates from the late 16th to early 17th century and has undergone later alterations. It is timber-framed and sits on a brick plinth, with weatherboarding and an asbestos roof. The structure consists of seven bays and features a midstreys to the east. Inside, there are jowled posts with long braces connecting to the tie beams, as well as a groundsill, middle rail, wall studding, and some tension braces. The wall plate is joined with a face halved and bridled scarf joint, and the roof is supported by butt purlins with collars.
