Description
This barn, located approximately 40 metres south-west of Lamarsh Hall Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, with a roof made of corrugated iron. The barn consists of three bays aligned north-south, featuring a midstrey on the east side and lean-to extensions on either side of the midstrey. It has jowled posts and heavy studding with curved bracing that is trenched to the inside. The west wallplate has an edge-halved and bridled scarf joint. The roof is constructed with clasped purlins, high collars, and curved wind-bracing. A notable feature of the barn is its original threshing floor, made of herringbone-patterned red brick from the 16th century, which is considered rare and valuable.
