Description

Holly Cottage is a small house dating to the late 17th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, now plastered, and has a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The house has three bays, arranged around a central chimney stack which forms a lobby-entrance to the south. A rear wing is located at the right end, and a lean-to extension with a slate roof is behind the left end, both additions of the 19th century. The building is one storey high with attics. The central entrance has a simple 6-panel door and architrave, while there are two 20th-century casement windows to the front, and three more set within low-pitched dormers. The roof is gambrel shaped. Inside, some timber framing remains visible, and there are chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops.
