Description
Nos. 27 and 29 Colegate and Flats 7, 8 and 9 Octagon Court are former houses that have been converted into flats. Originally built in the 17th century, they were heightened and had a rear range added in the 18th century, with restoration work carried out in the 20th century. The exterior is rendered, featuring a rusticated ground floor and long and short quoins. The building has a pantile roof and stands two storeys tall, plus dormers. The first floor has seven irregularly spaced windows. There are doors on the left and right sides, each framed by panelled pilasters and topped with flat hoods. A 19th-century shopfront is located at the extreme left, which includes a side door. The ground floor has sash windows, while the first floor features five mullion and transom windows along with two casement windows. A bracket cornice adds detail to the building. The 18th-century dormer gables include a group of four on the right and three on the left of the stack, each with casement windows and continuous bargeboards.
