Description

No. 8 School Road is a house built around 1840. It features coursed, squared carstone ashlar on the south front, with brick dressings and carstone rubble on the sides. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical three-bay facade, with an additional off-axis bay to the north. There are two ground floor and three first floor sash windows with glazing bars. The central entrance has a raised and fielded panel door with brick dressings. The off-axis bay to the north includes a ground floor segmental brick arched cart entrance with a boarded door, and a sash window with glazing bars above it on the first floor. The house has deep bracketed eaves, a low-pitched hipped roof, and two ridge stacks that are placed asymmetrically. This building is included for its group value.
