Description

No 4 Hall Road is a cottage built around 1840. It is constructed from rubble carstone with brick dressings and features a red pantiled roof. The building has two storeys, with a single-storey lean-to extension on the south side. The end gable facing Hall Road includes one ground floor and one first floor window, both of which are two-light wooden Gothic arch-headed casements with distinctive lead glazing bars that have diamond patterns at the junctions of each bar. These windows are surrounded by brick. The lean-to outshut on the south side has a 20th-century four-centred arched door and crow-stepped coping. The cottage has brick quoins and a barge board-bracketed gable, with a 20th-century eaves stack on the north side.

The end gable facing Lynn Road features a ground floor bow window with three central lights, which have four-centred arch head glazing bars, along with canted single lights and a lead roof. On the first floor, there is a three-light wooden Gothic arch-headed casement with lead glazing bars that also have diamond patterns at the intersections. This gable also has a lean-to with a crow-stepped gable and a 20th-century door, along with a barge board gable.
