Description
Manor House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with early 19th century additions and remodelling. It is two storeys high and has a double pile layout with an 'M' shaped roof. The building is constructed of red brick and features black-glazed pantile roofs, along with a hipped slate roof over the 19th century block.
The main facade faces north and consists of three bays, with sash windows that have glazing bars. There are flat rubbed brick arches above the openings and brick pilasters with moulded capitals. The central doorway is adorned with a Doric portico supported by fluted columns. Additionally, there are two bay windows featuring gauged arches and keystones, as well as two chimney stacks.
To the south is an earlier range, also made of red brick and topped with a black-glazed pantile roof. This section includes sash windows with architraves and glazing bars, although some have been replaced with 20th century windows. The eaves have a brick dentil detail, and the gables are parapetted with internal brick stacks. An off-centre aerial stack is also present.
Inside, there is a fine 17th century moulded plaster ceiling in a ground floor room of the south range. At the west gable, there is an L-shaped one-storey stable range with casement windows that have pointed relieving arches. The main entrance is enhanced by good cast and wrought iron gates and railings.
