Description

The farmhouse dates from around 1700. It is constructed of red brick with a steeply-pitched pantile roof. The north-east facing front has four bays, featuring casement windows with mullions and transoms, along with two 20th-century fixed windows. The ground floor openings are topped with flat, rubbed brick arches. An off-centre entrance door is set within a moulded brick surround, featuring a segmental pediment on pilasters, and has a 20th-century half-glazed door. A moulded brick string course runs along the first-floor level, and corner pilasters are present. The gables are parapetted with brick tumbling, although the west gable is rendered; initials "T A" are visible on the east gable tie-ends. Gable chimney stacks are also present. A catslide extension projects from the rear. A 19th-century canted bay window with a hipped slate roof has been added to the rear. A gabled, one-and-a-half-story wing extends to the west. The main range’s roof features closely-set principals with collars, staggered butt-purlins, and straight wind-bracing. Original 18th-century panelled doors remain, as does an 18th-century corner cupboard with a semi-circular keyed arch on fluted pilasters.
