Description

Nos. 6, 6A-D, and 8 on Raymond Street are two houses that have been converted into offices and shops. They date from the late 18th century and are constructed of flint with red brick dressings and pantiled roofs, featuring a colourwashed brick facade. The facade includes Nos. 6 and 8, which are two storeys high and consist of four bays. Each house has a six-panelled door with glazed upper panels, with a sash window to the right and two sash windows on the first floor.

No. 6 has a door hood supported by iron brackets, and a ground-floor sash window from the late 19th century with 2/2 glazing bars. On the first floor, there is one 6/6 sash window, while the other window is boarded over. No. 8 features a flat door hood, a late 19th-century 2/2 sash window on the right, and two sash windows above; the left one has 2/2 glazing bars, and the other is a 6/6 sash. The building has a modillion eaves cornice beneath a gabled roof and a partly external stack on the north gable end.

A two-storey wing extends south-west down Nether Row, which includes Nos. 6A-6D, all of which were modernised in the late 1980s. No. 6C is a late 20th-century addition. There is a stack on the rear roof slope of the main block and on the west wing.
