Description

Shambles Shopping Arcade is a former market structure now converted into four shop units. It was built around 1900, replacing an earlier structure from 1837, and underwent alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of gault brick and features a slate roof. It has a single storey and a five-bay facade, which includes four round cast-iron columns with stylised water-leaf capitals that support pierced arched braces. The two bays on either side of the centre have late 20th-century shop fronts. The roof is hipped, and the returns are made of brick.
