Description

SANDON HYDE HALL TL 33 SW 7/65 Barn about 40m S of Hyde Hall Farm House GV II Barn. C17, extended C18. Timber frame, weatherboarded with some brick. Slate and corrugated iron roofs. 6 bays with a 2 bay addition. Projecting gabled midstrey facing away from house in third bay from left end, flanking lean-to additions with stable doors and casement windows. Gable end to right has early red brick base, part rebuilt in C20. Slightly lower extension to left end has lean-to additions on all sides. Elevation facing house has early red brick on ground floor, weatherboarded above, lean-to outshut additions, slate on roof slope facing house. Interior: braces from jowled posts to tie beams, struts to principals, lower butt purlins, collars clasping upper purlins, some renewed roof timbers, original studding and braces in walls, 2 bay addition has curved braces to tie beams, queen struts to collars clasping purlins.
