Description

SANDON MILL END TL 33 SW (West side) 7/71 Birds Nest Farm Cottage GV II House. Late C16 or early C17, altered and extended C20. Timber frame, rendered. Machine tiled roof. Originally 2 bays with cross wing to right to form a T on plan. 2 storeys. C20 2 storey and attic cross wing added to left. Plinth. Entrance in hall with a ground floor C20 leaded pane flush frame casement window. A first floor 2 light casement at left end of hall. Projecting gable fronted cross wings, to left 3 light casements, a single light in attic, to right 2 light casements, cusped bargeboards. Early wing to right is lower with a broader gable. Axial ridge stack at right end of hall with 4 diagonally set flues, rebuilt. Left end C20 external stack with offsets. Right end has a recessed 9 pane fixed window, a 4 light casement inserted between studs towards rear. To rear some exposed studs in a 2 light casement, a gabled dormer in hall. C20 cross wing extends further with first floor projecting, cusped bargeboards.
