Description
Pipers Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with a late 17th century to 18th century cross wing on the right. It has undergone alterations in the 18th century and has 20th century extensions added to the rear in 1984. The building features a timber frame set on a rendered plinth, with red and brown brick extensions to the left and brown and blue brick cladding on the ground floor to the right. The roof is plain tiled, hipped at the left end and gabled on the cross wing.
The house is two storeys high, with a ridge stack on the left and a double stack at the junction of the two ranges on the right. There are arched braces on the first floor left of centre and a gabled, through-eaves dormer to the right. On the first floor, there are two casement windows located in the centre and left of centre, along with a gabled through-eaves dormer at the left end. The ground floor features three 20th century casement windows, as well as one first floor and two ground floor casements on the cross wing. A plank door is positioned to the right of centre, sheltered by a braced pentice hood.
