Description
Aberfoyle Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and an addition made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with plastered infill, including some wattle-and-daub sections, set on a rubble plinth. The cottage has a steeply pitched hipped thatched roof with a brick stack at one end. The layout consists of three units plus a large 20th-century cross-wing with a tiled roof on the right side, and there is an outshut on the left end that was raised to two storeys in the late 20th century.
The exterior is single-storey plus an attic, with a three-window range. On the left end, there are two paired windows with two-light 20th-century casements, and a window with three-light 20th-century casement. There are also two eyebrow dormers with two-light casements that have iron opening casements. The entrance is located under a thatched pentice, and there is a garage door leading to the cross-wing. The left side of the building features a late 20th-century timber-framed gable. At the rear, there is a glazed door and a 20th-century casement window, along with two large raking dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
